Torre Del Falasco 2020 is a great value Valpolicella Ripasso under $20. Vibrant, full-bodied and produced from mostly Corvina Veronese with some Rondinella and Corvinone wine grapes. Ripasso is a winemaking technique that takes Valpolicella (from the Veneto region) and then introduces the lees of Amarone into the wine. There is enough residual sugar in those lees to allow a second fermentation that produces a bigger, richer wine. The 2020 vintage is very approachable now and is dry and vibrant with dark fruit, dark cherry, savoury herbs, vanilla, cocoa and smoky spices plushy on the palate.

Valpolicella Ripasso food pairings: rich tomato sauce and pasta, vegetarian lasagna, fricassee rabbit.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
