Mocha and dark chocolate on the nose gives way to fleshy black plums on the palate of this Italian red wine. Full-bodied and smooth and delicious. This wine previously won a Gold Medal at the Sélections Mondiales des Vins in Montreal. Try with hamburgers and all the fixins.

Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: hamburger.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Brilliant ruby colour with lovely floral and perfume up front on the nose. Cherry and baked cherry tarts, cassis, leather and dried herbs follow. The palate is clean and tannins are polishing with flavours dark fruit, vanilla, chocolate and violets. A long mocha and plum finish. Acidity is medium+ and balances all the nuances in this wine nicely. Thoroughly enjoyed! Perfect BBQ wine. Great hostess gift. Enjoy over the next 3-5 years.

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A beautiful blend of rustic Sangiovese and fresh and herbal Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark berries, smoke, leather and herbs. Dry with nice smokey fruit, well integrated tannins, and a long finish. 91+ points. Tasted March 2015. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Dark chocolate aromas and flavours: tastes sweet though is technically dry. This robust, smooth Italian red wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes. Vanilla smoke, spice and mocha on the finish. - Community Wine Reviews
