This full-bodied Chilean red wine offers vibrant aromas and flavours purple plums. Smooth and gulpable. Great price. Great for pizza. Originally, winery owner Don Melchor de Concha y Toro married French woman, Emiliana Subercaseaux, who owned a vineyard planted with Bordeaux vines. This is a red wine blend of mostly Merlot, plus Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Pair with gourmet hamburgers.

Merlot Carmenère Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: mushroom risotto and osso bucco, grilled steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

An aromatic deep ruby coloured with a hint of purple on the rim. Concentrated black fruit, pepper and smoky oak red wine blend dominated by Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and a splash of Syrah. Full-bodied and smooth. Enjoy it with your favourite grilled steak or meat lover pizza. Great value at $15.

Darlene Myers - CAPS Student rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

If you are looking for a great wine at great price, look no further. This delicious blend of , Merlot, Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend that represents great value out of Chile. A full-bodied wine with good structure and grip, lots of rich dark fruit flavors and the Merlot dominant blend has some really good plum flavors. This is a great barbecue wine whether you are serving pork or beef.
This robust, well-priced Chilean red wine is a blend of 60% Merlot, 35% Carmenère and 5% Syrah grapes. Merlot brings luscious forest fruit to the blend, Carmenere adds deep purple flavours and softness, and a splash of Syrah imparts black fruit and structure to the blend, according to the back label. - Community Wine Reviews
