Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Sample tasted as part of a California wine month seminar “California – Then and Now”. This is a historically important wine said to the be wine for all other Chardonnay's to be compared, winning many significant international competitions. This Chardonnay comes from a relatively cool area of Napa close to the San Pablo Bay. Aromas of ripe, golden apple, white peach, creamy lemon along with hints of lemon pith as well. Medium+ bodied, creamy and smooth with vibrant acidity, and overall a restrained texture balanced with vibrant fruit and a hint of minerality on a lengthy finish. Lovely and decadent! Enjoy with scallops or lobster.
Alana L rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

With a nose and palate full of citrus (lemon and lime), ripe apple, stone fruit (peach), pear, wet stone and slight toasted oak (13% on new oak), it has lively acidity, beautiful balance and long finish. It has texture and elegance and would pair beautifully with seafood, simple salt and pepper shrimp or fresh creamy cheese and warm bread.

Tasted as part of the "California Wine Month Master Class: California Then and Now", a master class showcasing classic California wines, regions and range of styles and beautifully hosted by writer and speaker, Elaine Chukan Brown and California Wines.
