A terrific robust Argentine red wine, especially for this price point! Full-bodied, juicy and savoury Malbec with aromas and flavours of black fruit and toasty oak. Pair with prime rib.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Beautiful unoaked Malbec, apltly named pure after its unoaked vinification. This Mendoza Malbec shows blackberry, plum, black tea, and 90% cocoa dark chocolate. A Slight bitterness yet balanced with the wonderful fruit. Declared 13.5% ABV. Pair with Roast chicken, turkey dinner, Roasted pork tenderloin or a vegan quinoa salad. Tasted 2015 vintage on Malbec world day 2017. 90 points.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

No oak was used during vinification, hence the Pure name. Big fruit forward aromas of dark plum, black cherries, and undertones of sweet spice, a hit of pepper mid-palate and a persistent spicy finish.
Wonderful with lamb dishes.
Tasted April 2017.
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The Trapiche ‘Pure’ label are wines styled after the essential character of the grape and, therefore, see only brief maceration times and no oak contact. In this case, the 100% Malbec grapes from the Uco Valley, display a deep yet luminous ruby red colour. The aromas of cassis and black cherries are intense and almost overwhelm the more subtle baking spices. The tannins are equally intense, but are soft and round and give way to a long fruity finish. Score 90. (S.Segard, reviewed Sept 15, 2017)
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Fresh and vibrant cherry dominates the aromas and flavours with subtle hints of spice and satiny tannins. Very enjoyable at this price.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Medium purple colour with aromas of chocolate covered dusty blackberries and flavours of plums, smoky herbs and a touch of cinnamon spice on the finish. The spiced notes are interesting and surprising. Medium plus acidity, Medium minus tannin, body and finish. Named Pure because it isn't aged in any oak, therefore it is the purest form of this famed Argentinian varietal. Even without a barrel it's rounded out so well and reflects full, spicy, fruity characters. Refreshing and dry.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A 100% Malbec, made in an unoaked style. A fresh and fruity wine showing lots of cherry and plum with slight spice. Very smooth with a vibrant fruity palate. Pairs well with lean grilled meat, stews and game.
Tasted September 2017
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Tangy notes of sour cherry, cranberry, red plumb and fresh herbs. Full-bodied with smooth tannins. Pair with rosemary lamb. Tasted April 25, 2017.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

There's a beautiful purity of fruit in this wine, with bing cherry, cola, and raspberry notes. There's a touch of linzer torte that rounds out the finish. This wine is an easy quaffer. 88 Points.
