Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Amarone, named from the Latin verb amare, "to love". And once you taste this wine, you will love it too!
Crafted from a blend of Corvina 50%, Corvinone 30%, Rondinella 15%, Oseleta 5%, grown in in the scenic Valpolicella Classica zone.
Manual harvest and selection of the grapes was followed by the traditional method (appassimento) of drying the grapes for about 3 months in a well-ventilated loft. Fermentation occured in stainless steel, followed by 3 years’ maturation in Slavonian oak casks.
Smooth and elegant, this beautiful rich red wine shows the hallmarks of classic Amarone: perfumed nose, rich layered palate, flavourful and bright flavours.
Deep ruby red colour, the nose reveals intense scents of ripe cherry, black cherry, and slightly spicy tones. On the palate, it is both dry and soft, with complex flavours of dark cherries, prune, licorice, mocha and herbs. Excellent balance between acidity and tannins. Velvety mouthfeel with soft tannins, persistent lingering finish which fades slowly with hints of red fruit.
Perfect accompaniment to game, roast red meats or mature cheeses. Also works well with chocolate desserts. An ideal wine to share with friends and family over a leisurely meal.
Tasted Sept. 2022 @ Dandurand/Univins tasting.
