Classic Amarone with some nuances of wild violets and black cherry liqueur on the finish. Smoky and dark yet elegant in a muscular way. This brooding Italian red wine offers black fruit aromas and smoke on the nose. Underneath and on the palate there's a sensual layer of black fleshy ripe fruit and dark spices. Best consumed with hearty meat dishes and robust conversation.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico food pairings: borscht, beef, osso buco.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This Amarone has been crafted with dried 4 months before a gentle pressing and then aged in Slovenian oak.The result is a dark and brooding ruby liquid with essence of raisin, fresh figs, prune, plum pudding, warm cake spices. This Amarone is full-bodied, smooth, rich and concentrated. Earth and leather make an appearance mid-palate. All of this wrapped in bright, balanced acidity. Loved it! Bring forth your heartiest of meat dishes and watch Game of Thrones. This will only get better with age.
Tasted: August 2016
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A well-crafted, well-rounded meal in a glass sort of wine. This full-bodied Amarone shows notes of black fruit, smoke, leather, baking spice and (later) dried dates. This wine is off-dry with young grippy tannins, high acidity and integrated alcohol.. It can be cellared for at least another 5-7 years. Tasted Aug 2016. @moniquesosa | bespoketastings..ca
This is a classic Amarone with all of its full-bodied red berry, cherry fruit, smoky, lush and elegant finish. The 2011 vintage was a warm one and shows ripeness of fruit (and alcohol) and although this is a dinner wine, it is soft and lush enough to have with sitting-on-the-porch conversations -- indeed it could even start a few conversations. - Community Wine Reviews
