Chocolate block is a delish, full-bodied red wine blend from the Swartland wine region with smoky dark cherry, cinnamon, clove, pepper spice, savoury herbs, menthol, cocoa and smoky vanilla flavours on the palate. Tannins are structured, grippy. Decant two hours prior to pouring with an equally, smoky, grilled ribeye steak, or cellar for three more years to take the beast.

Food pairings: Bobtje, roast chicken Marbella, western BBQ chicken, vegetable chilli.

Reviews and Ratings

Love the luxurious mouthfeel on this plushy Syrah-focussed red blend from the Swartland wine region. The Chocolate Block 2018 is a rich blend of mostly Syrah with some Grenache, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier added to the blend. Smooth and inviting with plum compote, dark cherry, cocoa, baking spice and toasty, smoky flavours on the palate. Enjoy with a chicken mole now or hold for 10 years. Wine grapes for this vintage were sourced from the Goldmine and Porseleinberg farms. Good now, better in 2022. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
