From Susana Balbo's an oaked Torrontés that tastes more like a Viognier, probably because it was fermented in new French oak barrels. Not only that, wine grapes were hand-harvested and macerated with dry ice for 6 hours retaining fruit freshness. Fragrant with white florals, ripe melon, soft orange, pink grapefruit, lime, slightly herbal with spicy flavours on the palate and finishing with a salty tang. Nicely done. Enjoy now in all of its freshness and for the next three years. A consistently great Torrontés year after year!

Torrontés food pairings: mild vegetarian curries, sushi, salads topped with grilled mango chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Susana Balbo is to Torrontés what Condrieu is to Viognier! This Barrel Fermented Torrontés has a perfect balance of floral, juicy grapefruit, gooseberry and vanilla on the nose and palate. The oak is subtle but lends weight and gravitas beautifully. Silky, smooth with a delicious finish. The citrus notes lend themselves to calamari and seafood while the oak and vanilla will complement grilled chicken. Tasted September 2020. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Susana Balbo's Signature 2018 is a medium-bodied, barrel-fermented 100% Torrontés fresh on the nose and palate with white florals, honeyed citrus and briny mineral flavours on the palate. Elegant and well-crafted, wine grapes were sourced from the Paraje Altamira. This is one of the most flavoursome Torrontés I have every tasted. Lots of food-friendly acidity for fish tacos and crab cakes with aioli. - Community Wine Reviews
