A 100% Torrontés from the iconic Susana Balbo's oaked that tastes more like a Viognier and probably because it was fermented in new French oak. Not only that, wine grapes were hand-harvested and macerated with dry ice for 6 hours (now that is retaining fruit freshness) Fresh white florals, orange zesty honeyed lemon and briny mineral flavours on the palate, this is an interesting and well-crafted, elegant wine. Wine grapes were sourced from the Paraje Altamira. Chill and enjoy with grilled salmon steaks.

Torrontés food pairings: mild vegetarian curries, sushi, salads topped with grilled mango chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The talents of acclaimed winemaker Susana Balbo shined in this high altitude Torrontes. On display were pronounced floral, lime zest and honeyed stone fruit accents that emerged from the bouquet and held fast to the textured, mid weight palate. The effect was superb.

This 2017 offering was fermented three months in medium toasted French barrels and hails from Mendoza's Uco Valley. This combination of winemaking technique and terroir helped this wine stand out on the deliciousness scale. Enjoy.

Lise Charest Gagne rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Consistently great Torrontes year after year!! If you have not tried it you should. I recommend it to my Sauvignon Blanc loving friends as a new option that rocks! Sweet floral citrus aromas with a clean dry Ripe lemony / grapefruit zest flavours. It’s complex and refreshing with the interesting effects of the oak aging! Try it at 13 degrees and wait for your taste buds to explode!!
From the Mendoza Valley, Signature 2017 is a barrel-fermented Torrontés produced by Susana Balbo. From Finca La Delfina in the Altamira, this is a fragrant floral Torrontés with ripe melon, soft orange, pink grapefruit, lime, slightly herbal with spicy flavours on the palate finishes with a salty tank. Nicely done. Enjoy now in all of its freshness and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
