A medium-bodied Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, South Island, Sugar Loaf (2017) produced by a family-owned winery in the heart of Marlborough's Rapaura region. Vibrant with less than 2 g/l residual sugar, this is a bone-dry Sauvignon Blanc, mouth-watering with herbal, grassy, grapefruit flavours and finishing with light tropical notes. Chill and enjoy now with grilled seafood dishes.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: grilled fish, fish tacos, pan-fried panfish.

Reviews and Ratings

Lise Charest Gagne rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Such a stand out example of a delicious Sauvignon Blanc from the Sauvignon Blanc Capital of the world. Bold, creamy passion fruit and ripe pear aromas hit you in the face followed by some clean herbaceous notes. No cat pee resides here, expect a nice round wine with good backbone! Medium body and tastes like ripe white grapefruit, unripe green kiwi and salinity. The finish has clean acidity boasting lime zest. Wow I met my new love!
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Brilliant Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, boasting aromas of grapefruit and freshly cut grass, carrying through into a zippy lime finish. Crisp mouth feel, perfect for complimenting creamy textured cheeses or arugula salads.
Tasted February 2019.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aromatic bomb from Marlborough, New Zealand, the Sugar Loaf Handcrafted Wine, Sauvignon Blanc 2017, reveals amazing aromas of passion fruit, kiwi, lemon, grass, asparagus, saline and fresh bread. Medium-bodied with a tropical fruit finish, the wine shows maturity and structure, typical of a New-Zealand wine. Flavors of green apple, lime, apple blossom, lemon grass, salt and chalk. Enjoy!
Sugar Loaf 2017 is a vibrant, medium-bodied, herby, grassy mouth-watering Sauvignon Bland from Marlborough South Island. The family-owned winery is in the heart of Marlborough's Rapaura region. The winery was so named after the Sugar Loaf Islands, a collection of five small now uninhabited islands and near Port Taranaki, Taranaki, New Zealand where Kate Iceland, winery founder, grew up. These islands are currently designated a Marine Protected Area (SLIMPA) established in 1991 to protect the area from oil exploration. This vintage was awarded Gold at the 2017 New Zealand International Wine Show. Chill and enjoy now. - Community Wine Reviews
