From Stratus Vineyards, Wildass 2014 is tart sour cherry on the palate with a mouth-watering finish. The vines for this Niagara-on-the-Lake wine grow outside a Leeds certified winery building, and the grapes are hand-picked. The wine is a full-bodied red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Viognier. It is a food-friendly wine with medium to almost firm tannins. Pair with bison burgers.

Food pairings: rib eye steak on the barbeque, gourmet burgers, pork ribs on the barbie.

Wildass Red 2016 is a great value Niagara-On-The-Lake wine region red from Stratus Vineyards. The vines for this Niagara-on-the-Lake wine grow outside a Leeds certified winery building, and the grapes are hand-picked. This is a very popular crowd-pleaser red -- not only is it a blend of several different red wine grapes, it's a different blend every vintage J-L Groux is a master of assemblage, and this second wine from Stratus is juicy with red cherry, plum and berry fruit flavours, light herbs and smoky on the palate. This vintage is a blend of 25% Cabernet-sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Tannins are firm. Decant and pair with slow-roasted barbeque pork ribs. - Community Wine Reviews
