Natalie's Score: 92/100

Richly dark berries wrapped in smoke and dark spice with voluptuous layers on the palate. Full-bodied and endlessly long on the finish. Here's a rare chance to try a lesser-known varietal on its own that's usually used in blending.

Petite Sirah food pairings: venison, barbecued steak, pork tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The 2012 Petite Sirah was co-fermented with 1% Viognier, and includes 12% Syrah, 8% Grenache and 2% Carignan. Opaque with a purple hue, it's rich, conentrated, and inky. The nose is full of dark berries, smoked meat, and graphite. Full bodied, with intense tannins, this is a wine that will soften with the help of a decant prior to service. Enjoy with rich Italian dishes, seared steaks and wine reduction jus. Tasted November 2015. 91+ points. Matt Steeves
The 2012 vintage of this Californian Petite Sirah has 1% Viognier, 12% Syrah, 8% Grenache and 2% Carignan grapes in the blend. Polished tannins and a long finish. The original Stags' Leap Winery was established in 1893. - Community Wine Reviews
