The alcohol is high at 15%, but this robust Australian red wine tastes balanced, and not hot. Made from the classic Shiraz grape, it offers lots of fleshy ripe blackberries and black plums. Some dark spice on the finish. Pair with a pepper steak.

Shiraz food pairings: pork, pasta in meat sauce, steak, lamb cutlets, beef brisket, peppercorn steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Aromatic cassis and blackberry nose. Delicious fruit-forward palate repeats with balanced sweet spice. Mouthwatering acidity, excellent structure and lingering jammy finish. A treat!
Tasted Nov. 2018
I love a little black book reading with a sympathetic robust red wine that has a big vocabulary when it comes to aromas and flavours, like this one! This full-bodied, rich and ripe dark-fruit flavoured Shiraz is from the Barossa Valley in South Australia. Small Gully Mr. Black's Little Book (2015) is so named for co-founder and winemaker Stephen Black, and is in recognition of his knowledge in pharmaceuticals. Pair with a slow-braised blade roast. - Community Wine Reviews
