This dry and full-bodied Chardonnay is pure gold in the glass, with white florals, ripe pear, honey and caramel flavours on the palate. Since the 1980s, Shafer Red Shoulder Ranch has cultivated Chardonnay in Napa Valley's cool climate region of Carneros within sight of the northernmost reach of the San Francisco Bay. The winemaker teamed up with the red-shouldered hawks and other birds of prey for the mission of sustainable gopher pest control in the vineyard. Impressive and expressive from start to finish.

Chardonnay food pairings: crab cakes, Cornish hen, pan-fried cod with lemon butter sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

CarrieMac @sudburyvino rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Clear medium gold in appearance, lovely soft and floral on the nose. Full bodied and rich with lively acidity, flavors of caramelized pear and light toasty oak. A fantastic accompaniment to rich buttery seafood dishes.
