From the Carneros wine region, a dry and full-bodied Chardonnay fragrant with white florals, ripe pear, tropical fruit and toffee flavours on the palate. Finishes with bright acidity for food. Pair with all creamy seafood and pasta dishes.

Chardonnay food pairings: crab cakes, Cornish hen, pan-fried cod with lemon butter sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A big bold style of Chardonnay with a 14.9% alcohol. Tropical fruits, ripe peaches and fleshy citrus are all pronounced on the nose with a slight herbiness of basil and chives on the finish which ends in a big oaky, smoky statement. Try with peri peri chicken. @wrightwineblog
From the Carneros, Napa Valley wine region, Shafer Red Shoulder Ranch 2016 Chardonnay is a perfumed with white summer florals, dry and full-bodied with white florals, ripe pear, honey and caramel flavours on the palate. Since the 1980s, Shafer has cultivated Chardonnay in Napa Valley's cool climate region of Carneros within sight of the northernmost reach of the San Francisco Bay. The winemaker teamed up with the red-shouldered hawks and other birds of prey for the mission of sustainable gopher pest control in the vineyard. - Community Wine Reviews
