Wowers! Honkin big but still balanced. Packed with fleshy black fruit flavour and haunting smoky character. Coffee-smoke and espresso on the nose from oak aging followed by chary black fruit on the palate. Full-bodied with good acidity.

Shiraz food pairings: espresso and cocoa-rubbed flank steak, lamb cutlets, burgers with blue cheese, grilled pork chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This has power but with a dryness one traditionally doesn't expect from Aussie SZ. Purity of berries on the nose and palate with significant oak arriving late. I wish I had tried this wine a couple of years ago.
Serafino (2013) Shiraz is coffee-smoke and espresso on the nose from oak aging followed by chary black fruit on the palate. Full-bodied with good acidity. Serafino (Steve) Maglieri arrived in Australia from Italy in 1966 as a teenager. Together with his father Giovanni he planted the first vines in the McLaren Vale. The winery is now run by his daughter Maria Maglieri. - Community Wine Reviews
