Santa Ema's Amplus 2016 is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with smoky, spicy ripe red berry, black fruits and toasty oak on the palate. This Chilean red wine with aromas of cigar box, dried tobacco leaves and toasty oak. Tannins are Velcro-like. Enjoy now and for the next five years. Pair with grilled game sausages.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: pork tenderloin, hodge-podge, grilled burgers, Margherita pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Charming Cabernet Sauvignon from Santa Ema winery, the Amplus 2016 shows lovely aromas of blackberry, berry jam, oregano, pipe tobacco, leather and cedar. The word “Amplus” comes from the Latin language, meaning sophisticated, distinguished and honorable. Full bodied, this Andes god reveals structured tannins and a well polished finish. The first sip offers flavors of black plum, blackberry, dried herb, pepper, smoke, leather and cedar. Santa Ema crafts generous, elegant and consumer-friendly wines, produced in Isla de Maipo, the premier growing area in Chile’s acclaimed Maipo Valley, world-famous for its distinctive red wines. Enjoy!
Santa Ema Amplus 2016 is a well-priced, dry and full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon from Maipo Alto, Maipo Valley wine region. Lots of character on this smoky ripe red and black-fruited Chilean red wine with aromas of cigar box, dried tobacco leaves and toasty oak. Tannins are Velcro-like. Enjoy now and for the next five years. Pair with grilled meats. - Community Wine Reviews
