Reviews and Ratings

Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This full bodied Baco has intense fruit notes of black currant, blackberry, and chocolate. Solid acid, earthy spice and oak. A bit of fruit sweetness and a little smoky on a medium length, mellow finish.
Would work well with robust stews or meat loaf. Trying it with spaghetti tonight; worked well.
This wine evolves to something different every few minutes. I would buy this again - great representation of Baco.

Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This wine is made with grapes that are a crossing of Folle Blanche (a white wine grape from France) and a mystery red wine grape from North America of the Vitis riparia variety.

Beautiful deep purple colour with aromas of smoke, leather and dark red currants/cherries wafting from the glass. Glass staining with large, slow moving tears.

This is a full bodied wine with lots of blackberry fruit and a great balance of acidity and tannins.

I'm picturing this with a baked brie covered in a compote of assorted dark fruits - blackberry, wild blueberries. Then follow up with some bbq'd ribs coated with a spicy tomato sauce to stand up to all that acidity.

Well done @SandbanksWinery !
