Reviews and Ratings

John X Merriman 2015 is Rustenberg's Flagship red and is full-bodied 52% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot red wine blend, oak aged for 20 months in 35% new French oak and 65% second and third fill barrels. Tannins are fine and grippy. Decant two hours prior to serving with a juicy game steak. Look for black currant, ripe dark fruits, savoury herbs and sweet dried tobacco flavour on this intense, complex red and a perfect cellaring candidate for 10 to 15 years. This wine is named in honour of a former owner of Rustenberg, John Xavier Merriman, who bought the farm in 1892 in sympathy with farmers suffering from the phylloxera crisis. He played a key role in revitalizing Rustenberg and tourism. - Community Wine Reviews

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
