Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Bordeaux style blend John X Merryman from Rustenberg South Africa. The name brings a feeling of joy, sadly this bottle was corked, so the aromas were subdued yet the flavours were salvageable. Blackberry, cherry and green pepper (and of course some dusty wet cardboard notes) with flavours revealing some hidden raspberry, strawberry, graphite and plum notes. Medium plus acidity with a medium body, tannins and finish. Will definitely give this another go! 88 points - tasted May 2018
From the Simonsberg-Stellenbosch wine region, Rustenberg John X Merriman 2014 is a robust red blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot with splashes of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec for good balance. This is a medium-bodied, spice box with red cherries, berries, pepper and grippy tannins and would benefit from some time in cellar. Cellar for three years when the wine becomes a better sum of its parts. - Community Wine Reviews
