Classic minty blackberry on the nose. Good grip on the full-bodied palate. Black as night fruit, smoke and tar. Classically structured with deep concentration and complexity. Decant 2 hours. Drink with filet mignon and the good life.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: rib steak, barbecued long ribs, rustic pork roast.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 96/100 with the following review:

To Kalon Vineyard, one of Napa Valley's finest and most respected first growth vineyards, is where this 50th Anniversary Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was born. The 2013 vintage, one of the finest in recent times, pays tribute to the legendary Napa Valley winemaking pioneer, Robert Mondavi, who was instrumental in earning Napa Valley a seat at the table of the finest wines in the world. The Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were sourced from the finest blocks throughout To Kalon Vineyards, with individual bunches selected at perfect ripeness, then hand harvested, after which they were hand sorted, then only the finest individual berries chosen after de-stemming. Nothing but the finest fruit made its way into this iconic wine, and the finished product tells that story with impressive flavour, texture, and harmony. A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon with 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petite Verdot, this wine is muscular, rich, and concentrated with huge structure and loads of dark fruits and sweet spice. Very youthful at the moment, its beautiful balance, elegance, and harmony will be preserved over the next 30+ years while it evolves in bottle. Enjoy with fine cuts of grilled beef, such as Rib Eye with Bordelaise sauce. Tasted May 2017 at Robert Mondavi Winery in Oakville, Napa Valley. 96 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

This masterpiece wine is created from grapes grown in the very well respected first growth vineyard in the Napa Valley - "To Kalon" (Ancient Greek - meaning highest vineyard), originally planted in 1868. The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the world renowned winery of Robert Mondavi - this wine is spectacular - well rounded and skillfully crafted with luxurious layers playing together like a well rehearsed symphony. Ruby in the glass with notes and flavors of dark fruit, lavender, violet, mocha, spice, high quality oak and a promise of age worthy potential spanning decades.
From the Napa Valley the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve from the To Kalon Vineyard celebrates the 50th anniversary of the great Robert Mondavi and his extraordinary vision to create something special in the heart of Napa Valley. On the palate this full-bodied Cab is charming, elegant and fine-boned. The wine is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with 8% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot blended in . Drink now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
