Malcolm Lamont - WSET Adv, CSW rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Medium ruby, with a hint of age-showing garnet brown on the rim. A lovely bouquet, but not for the faint of heart! Wet leaf, earthy, and funky in such a good way! On the palate, the structure is sublime, and exactly what I like in a wine! But personal preferences aside, this wine will suit fuller-flavoured foods and dishes like beef ribs and winter stew.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: The main grape in this blend is 85% Nero di Troia along with 15% Montepulciano. The real name uva di Troia (or "grape" of troia) in the past 20 years has been changed to Nero di Troia. Some say the change was precipitated by the recent popularity of the Sicilian grape Nero d'Avalo. Very aromatic with scents of black cherry, plum and plenty of evidence of oak with leather and vanilla leading the charge. Tannins could still smooth out a bit, even given the age. Medium acidity with flavours of dark fruit with a long finish. This would be a perfect pairing with a grilled or braised meat dish. Tasted November 17/2019
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Full bodied, dry, and deep ruby coloured wine. Pronounced aroma of red cherry with baking spice with earthy and leather notes. The wine has fresh , tart red fruit taste with a strong spice component. This wine would be very good with braised meat and is best with food.
Jay Denney rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: A unique blend. Rustic in nature aromatically. Gives way to ripe fruit and spice, and the green veggies are ever so slightly at the back of the room chirping for attention. I'm thinking ratatouille would be a great dance partner here.
Wineboy rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review: Nero di Troia grapes which in this upscale example offer very ripe plummy fruit with ample oak influence which comes across as tobacco and a touch of oak tannins. Quite dry, this grape takes us back in time with an indigenous grape.
Simon Chen rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review: It's very green and herbal, high acidity and astringent tannin. Will need some tomato sauce pasta/pizza to counterbalance the acidity
Rivera Il Falcone Castel Del Monte 2013 Riserva a great value Puglia red blend, medium-plus-bodied with ripe mulberry, blueberry and fresh sage herbs, anise and meaty flavours on the palate. Pair with gourmet burgers topped with blue cheese. Enjoy now and for the next 15 years. - Community Wine Reviews
