Towering, blockbuster amarone with mouth-coating texture and a voluptuous full-bodied weight. Big black fruit, tarry oak, smoke and black spice aromas. Don't waffle with this wine as it won't put up with indecisiveness. Drink or move on. (I suggest you drink.) The 2012 vintage of this Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is classic Amarone.

Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico food pairings: chicken herb-rubbed roast, breaded veal cutlets, duck breast with celeriac purée, grilled steaks, cheese pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Made using a blend of Corvina, Rondinella & Molinara, this Amaraone has a very fragrant nose with ripe wild strawberries, raspberries, and floral notes. The very smooth, rich palate shows ripe red berries, vanilla, rose and vanilla. A satiny full-bodied mouthfeel and smooth wild strawberry finish. A great gift wine anytime.
This classic, robust Italian red wine is made from a blend of traditional Valpolicella grapes: Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara and several others in smaller amounts. They were dried for 4 months on mats before fermentation to concentrate the wine. The finished wine was aged in Slovenian oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews
