from the Rioja region of Spain, this dry, medium-bodied 100% Tempranillo is fragrant with ripe strawberry, black pepper and smoked meat aromas. On the palate, it is dry, smooth and earthy with more dried berry, cherry flavours, smoked meat, earthy florals, savoury spice and toasty oak spice finish. This wine is made from Tempranillo grown on 25-year-old vines and spent 24 months in a mix of American and French oak barrels. Pair with rack of lamb.

Food pairings: grilled pork chops, game stews, lamb roast.

Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A beautiful Tempranillo exuding prominent ripe dark fruit aromas, namely blueberry, blackberry, and plum, alongside violet, oak spice, gentle smoke, and subtle leather. The enchanting nose transitions into the delectable palate featuring mouthwatering acidity, fine-grained tannins with grip, and a balanced medium body. The dark fruit flavours are joined by hints of oak, cocoa, and smoke through the long finish. A marvelous wine that over delivers for $20. Match with a roast leg of lamb or duck breast.
Fincas De La Villa 2014 Reserva is produced with 100% Tempranillo from 25-year-old vines. Dry, medium-plus-bodied, with bright cherry, dark berry, earthy florals, cocoa, cracked pepper, oak spice and smoky flavours on the palate. Enjoy with grilled or smoked meats. - Community Wine Reviews
