The Faithful Hound offers enticing aromas of black, smoky fruit and a savoury, mouth-watering core. Some cedar notes in the background and on the finish. The 2014 vintage was a spectacular one for this winery. Perfect for prime rib or a rare steak. Decant for 1 hour. Highly recommended.

Food pairings: roast beef, turkey, pork tenderloin, coq au vin.

Reviews and Ratings

Mulderbosch Faithful Hound (2014) is a full-bodied red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc red wine grapes from the Western Cape wine region in South Africa. The Faithful Hound label is in honour of the dog who when abandoned by his master kept a three year vigil outside an empty cottage on the Mulderbosch Farm. This wine is a bright ruby red in the glass and on the palate, the wine is ripe blackberry, mulberry and blueberry, dried herbs, dark chocolate and a hint of mint. The red blend was aged in oak -- 30% new. The wine is well-balanced, structured and elegant. Drink now and raise a glass to the Faithful Hound. - Community Wine Reviews
