Produced by Sandro Boscaini, Masi Riserva Di Costasera 2015 Amarone Della Valpolicella is the big family-size version (1500 ml) of this lush and modern Amarone from the Veneto wine region. Juicy and luxurious on the palate with dark fruit, black cherry, dried violets, mocha, cedar and baking spice flavours finishing long, smoky and toasty on the palate. Produced with the traditional Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara and Oseleta wine grapes that spend a long time drying and concentrating on bamboo racks. Pair with prime rib. Drink or hold.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico food pairings: leg of lamb, cheese, venison stew, hearty lasagna.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

Everything about this wine is elegant and generous. Aromas of dark fruit, violets and hints of spice lead to a silky, smooth palate with intense dark cherry, plum, chocolate and more spice. Beautifully balanced with ripe tannins it carries its 15% alcohol seamlessly. Every big wine should aspire to such elegance, intensity and complexity. The experience goes on and on with an admirably long finish. This deserves your best beef, game or mature cheeses. (Tasted November 2021 thewineloverskitchen.com)
Can you every have enough Amarone? Maybe, but not of this one from a great vintage. Masi Riserva di Costasera 2015 (1500ml) is just the right size for a big family holiday dinner. Produced by Sandro Boscaini from the traditional Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara and Oseleta wine grapes that spend a long time drying and concentrating on bamboo racks. Fragrant with ripe red plum, black cherry, sous bois, dark chocolate, vanilla and anise spice aromas, full-bodied and luxurious on the palate. Warming at 15.5% abv, but the wine is so rich with fruit and beautifully balanced acidity, it's hardly noticeable and that keeps the alcohol in check. Pair with prime rib. Drink or hold. - Community Wine Reviews
