This is a wow wine year after year, and the 2013 vintage is no exception. Dr Loosen makes superb white wines at many price levels, this one being an entry level offering but it's no entry level wine in the sense of craftsmanship and flavour. Lime and lemon zest almost leap out of the glass, with delicate white floral and peach notes on the palate. Light- to medium-bodied and perfect for dishes with a touch of sweetness like glazed ham or pasta in a cream sauce. This Qualitätswein Q.B.A. over-delivers on every dimension.

Philippe Perreault - Sommelier rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Clear yellow color almost uncolored.

aromas of lime, green apple, mineral, peach and white flower.

The palate is lively, light-bodied and the finish is long.

Pair it with sushi, cheese fondue or spring rolls.

Serve it at 8-10 degrees.

Ready to drink but can be aged 4-5 years.

Product Details: Mosel Valley, Germany 8.5% ABV, Riesling

Ernst Loosen is one of the giants of the wine world making some of the greatest white wines anywhere. The Dr L Riesling is his non estate, entry level offering and is always an amazing value. When good, Mosel Riesling is on a tight balance beam of fruit, minerality, acidity and sweetness. 2013 was a tough year in the Mosel and that shows in this tasting. Still a worthwhile value, the 2013 Dr L is one of Loosen's weaker efforts.

The tasting: Soft nose of apple juice and stone fruits. Palate is medium sweet and the acidity lags. Very quaff-able foil to light spicy foods or guests with a sweet tooth.

Drink now.

Food pairing: Sushi, especially rolls with avocado. The sweetness will balance the rich avocado and hit of wasabi; the light flavours match the fish. Thai cuisine or light appetizers. Avoid heavy fare such as curries; they will overwhelm this wine.

When to drink, if not with food: Watching a Hugh Grant or Fred Astaire film.

Reading pair: Far Side cartoon collection
This vibrant, energetic German white wine really delivers in the glass. This Riesling offers great minerality and tropical notes. Pair with Asian dishes. - Community Wine Reviews
