Still one of the best value Riesling on the liquor store shelf under $20. From the Loosen Bros., Dr. L is a Mosel Qualitätswein off-dry, mouth filling on the palate with lemon curd, peach, tropical fruit flavours with a mineral streak that is characteristic of that wine region. Pair with pork schnitzel.

Riesling food pairings: pork tenderloin, turkey breast, spicy pasta dishes, shrimp tempura.

Reviews and Ratings

Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The Loosen Bros. is yet another example of Germany proving that they know what they are doing when it comes to Riesling! I don’t usually write about wines at this price point because it can be quite challenging finding choices enjoyable enough - but this wine is playful within its simplicity and effervescent; candy-like apples and pears on the palate make this Riesling very easy drinking and almost cider-like in style. Low in alcohol at 8.5% making it a good sociable wine.
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Apple, pear, and peach nose, similar palate with the addition of minerality. Easy drinking and easy to like. Offdry with acidity to match. Add a little spice to a chicken or seafood dish, or order your favourite Chinese foods, and dig in.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

An aromatic nose of apricots, flowers and honey. Fairly sweet, lemony and lively on the tongue. This is an easy wine that would go with brunch, smoked salmon and capers or canapés. Tasted June 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Jay Denney rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

I was delighted to see this by the glass on the list at Be Our Guest restaurant in Disney World. Some nice lemon merengue going on in this one, with some fuji apple and white peach notes as well. Some classic minerality and whiff of petrol as well. Perfect with the Croque Monsieur I had for lunch while enjoying the ambience of the Beauty and The Beast's West Wing.
This Riesling Mosel Qualitätswein from the Loosen Bros. is fantastic value under $15. Dr. L 2017 is off-dry, mouth filling on the palate with ripe apple, pear, lemon curd, peach, tropical fruit flavours with a mineral streak that is characteristic of that wine region. Pair with calamari. - Community Wine Reviews
