Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Oaked or unoaked Chardonnay? Have the best of both worlds with The Fifty Chardonnay from Leaning Post Wines. Fermented in French oak before aging in stainless steel on lees for nine months. It combines touches of smoke and flint with crisp green apple, lemon, pear, and a hint of tropical fruit. Beautiful mouthfeel from the lees adds structure and texture to a wine with exquisite varietal purity and and underlying minerality. Enjoy this gem with a wide array of dishes, especially chicken and shellfish.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

One of Ontario's contributions to 'Cool Climate Chardonnays', this is clean and crisp with a firm acid seam. Stone fruit and a touch of minerality on the palate. Enjoy with calamari. Tasted June 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Leaning Post The Fifty 2017 is a bright, dry, cool-climate Chardonnay from the Niagara Peninsula wine region. Fresh with white-fleshed stone-fruit, dried pineapple and lime-lemon zest flavours on the palate. Balanced and oh so fresh. Chardonnay wine grapes are sourced from three vineyards: the Leaning Post vineyard, Twenty Mile Bench and Beamsville Bench vineyards. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
