Rustic, dry and terrific with distinctive aromas of maturity: think tanned leather, violets, dried herbs and wild black cherry though not fruity. Nice mouth-watering acidity for a variety of dishes. Highly recommended.

Reviews and Ratings

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lots going on in this wine. The fruit is black cheery and plum, but there's plenty of other aromas such as cedar, leather , smoke, and violet. A very pretty wine for the price. The taste is smooth and silky, with both black and tart cherry and a hint of green vegetable. Hard to beat as a wine for lighter tomato based pastas or pork dishes. I'd recommend for heavier dishes but it would be a shame to hide the complex aromas.
This robust red wine uses the ripasso method to add richness, depth and flavour to the finished wine. Decant 1-2 hours and enjoy. - Community Wine Reviews
