From the Loire, Jean-Max Roger's Cuvée Genèse Sancerre (2016) is simply mouth-watering loveliness. The French winemaking family Roger has been producing wines in the Loire Valley since the 17th century. Cuvée G.C. Sancerre is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown in the "Le Grand Chemarin" vineyard in the village of Bué. Crisp, dry, mouth-watering with green apple and lime. Pure focus on fruit light intensity. Pair with spinach quiche.

Sancerre food pairings: grilled prawns, poached salmon, roasted herbed chicken, goat cheese-stuffed roasted red peppers.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Crafted perfection! This family owned winery in the Loire is steeped in tradition. An elegant old world representation with lingering flavors of crisp red and green apple, freshly shaved lime rind and a touch of lemon balanced with a hint of grilled, and a typical, all too familiar minerality. I enjoyed it with my homemade herbed goat cheese balls (I use dill, parsley, basil, and chives or whatever is in abundance from my garden) .
Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

From a family-owned winery over 300 years old, this classic, dry Sauvignon Blanc offers Old World ripeness and style, without the grassy notes you can find in specimens from New Zealand. Excellent with white fish, goat cheese, and asparagus-based salads, it’s also delightful on its own. Enjoy its good and balanced acidity, and sharp finish with good length and lingering finish redolent of granny Smith apples, lime, kiwi, and pineapple. Definitely worth its price and an excellent expression of Sancerre terroir.
From the Loire, Jean-Max Roger's Cuvée Genèse Sancerre (2016) is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes mostly from Le Grand Chemarin, one of the most famous vineyards in the village of Bué. The French winemaking family Roger has been producing wines in the Loire Valley since the 17th century. On the palate, the wine is dry, with ripe orchard fruit, fresh cut grass, mineral and citrus notes on the palate wrapped up in mouth-watering acidity. Pair with quiche or salads topped with warm, herbed goat cheese. - Community Wine Reviews
