Chocolate, oak and smoke on the nose of this red wine with a firm tannic grip on the palate. Nice balance in this Californian Cabernet. Lots of blackberry and mocha and dark chocolate aromas. Smooth and full-bodied. Pair with a rare steak.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: hearty meat dishes with autumn veggies.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

J. Lohr shows consistent quality in this deep ruby/garnet Cab Sauv. Perfumed aromatics with ripe wild strawberries, blueberries, cassis, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cedar on nose. The rich, velvety palate repeats these layered flavours in a full-bodied satiny texture. Elegant finish. Sensual and delicious.
Nice balance in this Californian Cabernet. The 2012 vintage was a warm one in this Californian of Paso Robles, usually a warm region, although 2011 was chilly. Pair with a rare steak. - Community Wine Reviews
