Izadi Reserva 2014 is smoky with ripe dark fruit aromas right from the get-go. You know it's going to be good. Produced from 100% Tempranillo, layers of ripe dark plum, dark chocolate, tobacco leaf, pepper and smoke, very smoky (from toasted oak) and deliciously robust. The estate was founded in 1987 and is located in Rioja Alavesa around the villages of Villabuena, Ábalos and Samaniego. Pair with a rich Spanish sausage casserole.

Food pairings: roast pork, grilled steak, hard cheeses.

Reviews and Ratings

Cherie Cole rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This single-varietal wine from Rioja, Spain is made from 100% Tempranillo. Dark fruit and smoky aromas fill the glass. Medium-full body with a repeat of the dark fruit, black pepper and smoke on the finish. Pair with cured meats and aged cheddar.
Izadi 2014 is a Riserva red from the Rioja Alavesa wine region. This is a robust Spanish red made from the Rioja's flagship red wine grape, Tempranillo. On the palate, this juicy red is showing ripe dark plums, blackberry, wild herb, cracked pepper and smoky flavours on the palate. Finishes with dark chocolate notes. Tannins are well-integrated. - Community Wine Reviews
