Inniskillin Montague Vineyard 2019 is a single-vineyard Chardonnay gorgeous on the nose with apricot, peach, honeysuckle, lemon pudding and tropical fruit notes. On the palate, the tropical fruit comes through with ginger, clove, lemon curd and praline flavours balanced with vibrant acidity. Expressive and absolutely delicious. Four Mile Creek sub-appellation is located on the Eastern side of the Niagara. The vines are planted in clay loam pockets on top of the Queenston Formation (bedrock that forms a significant piece of Ontario) and are exposed to intensely dry summer heat. That heat, along with the rapid cooling which takes place at night, produce extremely ripe and tropical-fruit Chards with structure and plenty of aromatics.

Chardonnay food pairings: prawn bisque, oyster poor boy, cheese fondue, stuffed chicken breast.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Beautifully balanced Chardonnay, from the Four Mile Creek area of Niagara. Aromas of creamy lemon, macadamia nut, honey and a touch of warm spice. Full bodied on the palate, creamy with just enough acidity, and nicely balanced sweet and tart fruit. The finish has a touch of spice and some mineral notes. Enjoy with baked halibut, or pan seared scallops.
