Reviews and Ratings

Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A great Merlot worth drinking again…
Presentation: A sharp label. A nice combination of red and silver. Well thought out
Appearance: Light-medium ruby red
Nose: Flowers (violets, lilacs), slate, smoke, leather. Very nice nose!
Taste: Sour berries, plums, leather, a little cedar and earth. Again, very nice and balanced.
Finish: A balanced finish of sour berries, leather and earth
Overall impression: This wine actually made me think, in a good, contemplative way. I could taste many different notes. I could see how, over the course of an evening, it would evolve, with new notes coming out. I would definitely drink this one again.
Value: 3.5/5
Carola Price rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Blackberry and tar, slightly earthy but lots of fruit.
Medium to full bodied with a well balanced finish.
I liked this wine when standing at the tasting bar at Huff on a perfect summer day and I still do today. Great wine for BBQ but also on a cold day when slow cooked beef in red wine sauce is calling.
Drink now or hold for 5 years.
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Prince Edward County Merlot has lovely fruit forward, smooth and earthy with a medium finish. Nice wine with a rare beef.

Tasted April 3/16
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A lot of earth and smoke mixed with some soft red berry fruit on the nose. Softer than expected on the palate, with the fruit being more prominent (more cherry). Smoky and earthy notes are more subtle. Tannins are soft. I would want to try this with a nice pork roast. (April 2016)
Wineboy rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Surprising ripeness from Ontario's coolest wine region. Plummy with a touch of leather, fully dry with a modern purity of fruit. Already smooth so drink now through 2018
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

I may have tasted an off bottle, but aromas were very muted. Green bell pepper, cranberry, sour cherry.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Mild aromas of blueberry and strawberry jam, repeated on palate with smoke. A bit rough for Merlot.
