Very balanced and well-rounded without being heavy. Lovely green apple notes with some toasted hazelnut on the finish from the barrel fermentation and aging. There's fresh baked bread notes sprinkled with some cinnamon aromas on the finish. Lovely! Pair with quail.

Chardonnay food pairings: crab legs, corn dishes, stuffed chicken breast.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Deep lemon colour with a rich concentrated nose of Niagara apple and pear, almond butter, vanilla, toast. The palate is rich and creamy with sweet baking spices throughout. Loved the long apple butter on toast finish. Made from several estate vineyards in the warmer Short Hills Bench side of Niagara. Winemaker suggested pairings: grilled salmon, crab and lobster. Wild fowl or turkey. Dishes with cream sauces or mild herb flavours. Soft cheeses. I would add: on it's own. Highly recommend.
Tasted: March 2015
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Fragrant ripe peach, lemon zest, tropical pineapple and butterscotch on nose and palate. Luscious, full-bodied, creamy, with excellent acidity and satisfying butterscotch finish.
Terrific turkey match.
Nicole Lewis rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This clear, straw yellow, Niagara Chardonnay offers up a bouquet of rye toast, vanilla, and ripe pineapple on first whiff. When you sip this offering, you are greeted by flavours of pineapple, butterscotch, peach and vanilla. A wonderfully fully bodied offering that has integrating acidity and a long, smooth buttery and tropical fruit finish. Not at all overwrought!

This wine would pair well with seafood dishes that have rich sauces.

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Toasty, buttery Chardonnay. A full bodied cool climate Ontario Chardonnay. Nose shows caramel, brioche, almond, and melon. Creamy, and round. Lovely caramel and pear notes. A great wine to enjoy on its own. Highly recommend, especially if you like oaked Chardonnay. Tasted February 2015. 89 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Terry Jeans - Certified S rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Lots of toasty oak and creaminess, with a medium acidity. Green apple and lemon come through on the aromas, but it definitely the oak that dominates on the palette. If you like this style of full-bodied wine, it is a nice example for the price.
This robust Niagara Chardonnay is barrel fermented and aged. The vines are planted on the eastern side of the Niagara Escarpment and therefore benefit from lots of sunlight for ripening. - Community Wine Reviews
