California Chardonnay as good as it gets! Buttery, voluptuous layers of ripe peaches, pears and other tree fruit. No malolactic fermentation so the vibrancy of the fruit character is preserved. A smoky finish.

Chardonnay food pairings: fish tacos, smoked salmon, grilled whitefish.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

A luscious Napa Valley Chard that benefits from the cool breezes off San Francisco Bay. The nose invites you with ripe pineapple, mango, tropical fruit and slight lemon, then a mouth-watering palate offers delicious mango, pineapple, lemon, vanilla, slight buttered toast and a hint of minerality. Refined, integrated acidity, silky/satiny mouthfeel with a long lemony finish. If Dad loves Chardonnay, this is a perfect Father's Day gift!
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Let the naysayers have their ABC's and leave this gorgeous Chardonnay for those of us that appreciate this versatile varietal. This Napa Chardonnay has plenty to offer at this premium price point. Rich and creamy tropical fruit and lemon tart up front with butter, toast, toffee and matchstick secondary characteristics. Bright acidity indicative of the nighttime cooling breezes off the Pacific. Weighty and wonderful. Long buttery citrus finish. A collectors dream. Enjoy over the next 10 years. Perfect for seafood, planked salmon but for some of us this is dessert!

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A full bodied Chardonnay that has subtle oak tones with aromas of peach, banana candy, tropical fruit, floral notes, honey and a slight hint of white pepper. It is creamy and has flavours of lemon and peach, a touch of oak, and walnut at the finish. It has bright acidity and a nice long finish. A very enjoyable wine!

Tasted November 2017
This robust Californian white wine is made from benchmark Chardonnay grapes. Aromas of mango and peach with a toasty oak finish. The grapes are certified organic and Biodynamic and undergo no malolactic fermentation. This gives the wine a more acidic touch, more like what you would expect in a Sauvignon Blanc, not a Chardonnay. There are bright mango and peach flavors and slight mineral notes. It's aged 19 months in French Oaks with 60% neutral, 30% new, and 10% 900 gallon casks, which give it a smooth and slightly toasty finish, a nice contrast to the acidic undertones. After 40 years of making Chateau Montelena Chardonnay (the iconic wine in the movie Bottleshock), winemaker Mike Grgich continues at Grgich. - Community Wine Reviews
