Fleshy, fruity, round and supple - not a lot of structure but delicious nonetheless. Serve this with char-grilled meats for backbone.

Shiraz food pairings: game meats, rare roast beef, spice-braised lamb, burgers with blue cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Bishop is the maiden name of Colin Glaetzer's wife, Judith and thus the symbol on this delicious bottle of Shiraz is the sign of Venus - she represents women and feminine energy in Greek(Aphrodite) and Roman mythology. This is a full-bodied Shiraz to be sure - deep inky ruby colour, youthful tannins, and cleansing medium acidity. Rich aromas and flavours of dark cherry, over-ripe strawberry, black pepper, anise, tar, chocolate, cake spices, and warming alcohol. Long length on a warm finish. Enjoy now decanted or there's definite cellar potential in this bottle. Pair with finer cuts of grilled red meats.
Tasted: January 2016
Bishop is the maiden name of Judith Glaetzer, wife of Colin, who started the winemaking family business in the Barossa Valley 30 years ago. Today Ben continues the tradition. The vines are dry-farmed in the Ebenezer sub-region. - Community Wine Reviews
