From the Ebenezer sub-region in the Barossa Valley, Ben Glaetzer Bishop 2018 Shiraz is produced from dry-farmed vines that are up to 120 years of age. "Bishop" is the maiden name of Judith Glaetzer, wife of Colin, who started the winemaking family business in the Barossa Valley 30 years ago. Today, Ben continues the tradition. The Shiraz is dry, full-bodied and concentrated with layers of ripe blueberry, dark cherry liqueur, raspberry, baking spices, supple, generous and vibrant on the palate. Grapes were open-fermented with extended maceration and matured up to 16 months in mostly (90%) French oak and some American oak barrels. Drink or cellar for 12-plus years. Pour with roast beef dinner.

Shiraz food pairings: game meats, rare roast beef, spice-braised lamb, burgers with blue cheese.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
