This wine is a full-bodied Californian Cabernet from the heart of Napa Valley. Black fruit, vanilla smoke, tobacco and dark spice are on the nose with leather, smoke, cocoa and spice on the palate as well. Supple, smooth and full-bodied. Pair with roast beef. Mouth-filling, balanced and integrated with smooth tannins.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: lamb barbecued, crown roast of lamb, stuffed saddle of rabbit.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Gorgeous Napa Cab. Decanted 2h and wonderful at this stage in it’s evolution. Cocoa, leather, baking spice, with ripe red and blackberry fruit. Great complexity. Well balanced moderate alcohol, integrated tannins, medium plus acidity. Long finish with persistence of black licorice and dark plum. Elegant. Paired exceptionally well with carne asada flank steak and grilled seasonal veggies. Tasted 2014 vintage in May 2018. Great value. 94 points
Girard 2014 is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley that saw some very dry conditions in 2014 intensifying this Cab Sauvignon's flavours of smoky dark fruit, blackberry, black currants, savoury spice and cedar underbrush. It has it all, but could also spend some time in cellar. Drink from 2020 and for the next five years, or decant for two hours prior to serving with a juicy prime rib. - Community Wine Reviews
