Natalie's Score: 94/100 This is the half bottle format of this wine (375 ml): perfect for nights on your own, or when you and your dining companion want to share a glass and half each before trying another wine from the estate. Simply gorgeous! Aromas of black truffle, wild violets and dark, smoky berries. This savoury and juicy Italian red wine with a racy acidity on the palate that's perfect for pasta in tomato sauce, spicy sausages, pizza and lasagna. Aromas of tart black cherry, spices and everything good in a Tuscan kitchen when it's cookin'. Great concentration and depth of flavour on the palate. This blockbuster is in serious need of cellar time. This full-bodied red wine features aromas of blackberry, black plums, smoky oak and tar. It's fairly smooth, though this will improve with aging. Decant for 1-2 hours when you open it. A powerful and classic Italian red wine. Pair with prime rib. The Frescobaldi name is one of the best known in the Tuscany region, and this wine delivers on the promise. Great structure, balance and length. It's produced from severe selection, low yield Sangiovese grapes grown on the winery's estate vineyard in the heart of Tuscany. The wine is aged for three years in large oak casks and then another 6 months in bottle before being released from the winery. The Frescobaldi family have been winegrowers since 1300.
Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: pasta in meat sauce, spicy sausages, grilled meats, game.

The Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo Brunello shows enticing ripe dark fruit, dried figs, sweet spice and a whole lot of body! Layers of lasting notes include cherry, figs, anise (seeds), licorice, leather, black tea. It boasts a smooth velvety mouthfeel, mouthwatering acidity, and a long licorice finish. Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review: Matt's review: What a fantastic Brunello, each and every year, especially this 2011 vintage. Made from 100% Sangiovese from their estate vineyard in Montalcino, it shows smoky plum, leather, cedar, and sweet cigar box on the nose and palate. Huge flavour, texture, and structure, this Brunello is a great treat to enjoy with rich Tuscan dishes, and although it's showing beautifully now, it would be glorious after cellaring 5-15 years to soften the tannins and appreciate the evolution of this storied wine. Available in the demi-bottle (375ml) making it a great wine to buy by the case and enjoy a couple glasses every year as it evolves. Tasted January 2017. 93 points. Malcolm Lamont - WSET Adv, CSW rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review: A classic style from this noble producer. Yummy, complex notes of leather, forest floor, tobacco, rose and cherry. It's a beauty! Tart structured finish, and a good value for $28 ( for the 375ml bottle, of course ;) Tasted Jan 2017
Steve rated this wine as 79/100
The 375 ml, half-format bottle of Brunello Di Montalcino is perfect for one person to have with a meal. The wine is lush black cherry, blackberry and plums. A powerful silky wine to go with a rustic tomato sauce or sausage cassoulet. Great backbone on this wine, it was aged for three years in large oak casks and a half-year in bottle prior to its release. Enjoy now! - Community Wine Reviews
