Natalie's Score: 95/100

This is the joyful-for-one size (375 ml) of Castelgiocondo 2016 Brunello Di Montalcino but big, robust and savoury on the palate. Produced by Frescobaldi, the wine is dry, full-bodied, smoky and chewy with blue florals, dark cherry, wild herbs, mint, spiced plum, cracked pepper flavours rich and concentrated on the palate. Great now, but will easily cellar to 2028. Drink or hold.

Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: pasta in meat sauce, spicy sausages, grilled meats, game.

Made for a meat-lover's pizza and a glass of wine or two to go with it, is the 375 ml version of Castelgiocondo 2016 Brunello Di Montalcino. Big, robust, savoury and smoky, it is dry, full-bodied and chewy with wild herbs, spiced plum, dark cherry, cracked pepper, menthol, chocolate and espresso flavours rich and concentrated on the palate.
