Natalie's Score: 92/100

A great Barbaresco with a great price point, produced from the iconic north Italy Nebbiolo wine grape. Smoky cherries with leather, sous bois, red berry and garrigue herbs juicy and vibrant on the palate. Food-friendly and begging for a rack of lamb from the grill. Tannins are chewy. Nice now, but better with a couple more years in cellar to show its best.

Barbaresco food pairings: rich tomato sauce and pasta dishes, hard cheeses, grilled pork tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Fontanafredda 2015 Barbaresco is made from 100% Nebbiolo. Garnet in the glass with rose petal, leather, savoury herb and mineral aromas on the nose. Dry, bright cherry, red berries, savoury herb, spicy, meaty and sous bois flavours on the palate. Structured chewy tannins, vibrant acidity and would benefit from three more years in cellar. Pair with a game roast. - Community Wine Reviews
