Featherstone Red Tail 2020 Merlot is a vegan-friendly 100% Merlot sourced from the Featherstone Vineyard in the Niagara Peninsula. Great value at $20, look for fresh black cherry, plum, spicy and savoury herb flavours smooth and supple on the palate. Featherstone's Red Tail Merlot pays homage to the winery's use of falconry to protect those juicy Merlot grapes from the flocks of birds in the know.

Merlot food pairings: beef, cheese, poultry, pork tenderloin , quesadillas, game.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Featherstone's Red Tail Merlot pays homage to the winery's use of eco-friendly falconry to protect their (sweet and delicious) crop from swarms of vineyard devouring birds. As a key feature of their sustainable practices, Featherstone Estate Winery happens to be the only Ontario winery to embrace this natural crop management technique as part of their overall vineyard management.

2020 Red Tail is 100% Merlot from Featherstone Vineyard in the Niagara Peninsula. It's an easy-going and very approachable medium bodied red that showcases Featherstone's smooth and refreshing Merlot with black cherry, plum, and herbs persisting. Enjoy Red Tail in the near term with BBQ fare, Autumn harvest meals, or simply on its own. Tasted July 2022. 89 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
