Lots of attractive coffee-espresso aromas on the nose of this robust Argentine red wine. Full-bodied, smooth with black fleshy fruit on the palate. The Malbec grapes for this wine are hand-harvested from vineyards planted at the foot of the Andes mountains. The wine is aged for 8 months in oak barrels by winemaker Gustavo Marin. Finishes with black pepper and mocha. Pair with a pepper steak.

Malbec food pairings: barbecued beef, chili con carne, mushroom burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

One of those Malbecs that are more heavily oaked. Pepper, spice, licorice, mocha - take your pick but it's there and lovely. Nice power for the price, not complex but a good value.
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Ripe fruit jumps out at you from this deep purple wine. Liquorice is followed by nice pepper and spice. The oak provide smooth tannins on the palate that continue to the finish.

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Opaque purple with aromas of India ink, mocha, cassis, and black plum. The taste is deep and rich with flavours of black plum and a touch of eucalyptus. The abundant tannins are quite rounded and smooth for a wine in this price range.
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Red and black fruit and mocha dominate the nose and palate on this full bodied wine. The fruit flavors really come out on the palate. Good food pairings would include skirt steak or beef burritos.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Black ruby hue, aromas of blueberries, coffee, leather, pepper, cloves, with a persistent spicy finish. Perfect with barbecued anything,
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Nothing says bbq like a Malbec from Argentina! Dark ruby colour gives you a hint of what's to come - blackberry fruit, leather and spice. This full body wine delivers on tannins and fruit. A long finish with some spicy black pepper notes.
Shelley Harris reviewed this wine as follows:

Dark berry and peppery aromas and tastes. This full bodied Malbec would pair well with an Asian chicken stirfry with a thick hoisin based sauce.
Since 1884, the wines of Bodegas Escorihuela have been perfecting their craft starting with the founder Dona Miguel Escorihuela who emigrated from Spain and settled in the foothills of the Andes Mountains.
