The Decoy range of wines, now being made for more than two decades have come into their own, offering fleshy cherry-berry aromas on the nose. The much-respected Californian winery Duckhorn Vineyards produces this second label Pinot Noir that that is excellent quality for the money. Full-bodied, round and rollicking with good natured ripe fruit, spices and cedarwood smoke. Mouth-watering yet it finishes long and elegant. Try it with seared tuna or roast turkey.

Pinot Noir food pairings: duck confit over small roasted potatoes and green onion, duck fricassee on egg noodles, grilled goose breast with cherry coulee.

Reviews and Ratings

Jacky Blisson rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Ripe red berries, red cherry, and brambly notes feature on the moderately intense nose. The palate is light in body, with modest freshness and a lovely silky texture. Juicy red fruit and candied black cherry flavours abound. Subtle oak spice is well integrated, however the 14% alcohol is a shade warming, and the firm tannins are just slightly astringent.
This Pinot Noir from Sonoma County has been made for over 20 years and it just gets better. Duckhorn Vineyards Decoy (2015) is rich cherry on the nose with ripe cherry, sweet cake and cedar spice on the palate. This is Duckhorn's second label Pinot Noir that that is excellent quality for the money. The wine is full-bodied with a mouthwatering acidity and a lingering smoked cherry finish. Great with roast duck. - Community Wine Reviews.
