The Decoy range of wines, now being made for more than two decades and I am still loving their second-label Decoy (2017) Pinot Noir from Sonoma County, California. Warming at 14% abv this Pinot Noir is lush and elegant with ripe red berry, blueberry and black fruit, savoury and pepper spice to support the alcohol. Full-bodied, round and mouth-watering with a smoky dark cherry finish. Pair it with duck confit, roasted sweet onion and little potatoes.

Pinot Noir food pairings: duck confit over small roasted potatoes and green onion, duck fricassee on egg noodles, grilled goose breast with cherry coulis.

Reviews and Ratings

James rated this wine as 94/100
Perry rated this wine as 92/100
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby in colour, medium intensity nose, dry, medium plus acidity with medium tannin and medium body. Very savory aroma with raspberry and red berry aromas and a slight earthy aroma. Spritzy and a bit acid on the tongue with red berry tastes.
From the Duckhorn Wine Company, the Decoy range of wines have been made for more than two decades, including this Pinot Noir from Sonoma County, California, Decoy 2017. This is Duckhorn's second label Pinot Noir with rich cherry aromas on the nose, medium-plus-bodied with ripe red berry, black plums, dark and pepper spice flavours on the palate. This PN is warming at 14% abv, but there is enough fruit to support it. Easy to enjoy. Pair with Peking duck. - Community Wine Reviews
