A great value for this savoury, juicy southern French red wine made from Grenache Noir grapes. Spectacular, robust red wine with glorious aromas and flavours of black cherry liqueur, anise and smoke. Loaded with seductive black raspberry on the finish. Catalon soils in the heart of the Pyrenees made from old vines. Superb craftsmanship!

Grenache Noir food pairings: turkey, soft cheese, roasted beef, lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Loads of blackberry fruit, fruit skin, crushed rocks, graphite, glycerine, purple flowers, kirsch, and a hint of herb and warm spice. It has an ironish finish. This is excellent stuff, especially at $17. 91 points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Cotes Catalannes is one of the most important IGP's in the region of Languedoc-Roussillon in Southern France. The 100% Grenache shows intense, inviting aromas of juicy red and dark fruit coupled with flavors of intense black cherry, raspberry, plump blueberries, kirsch, fragrant violet and a hint of baking spice and white pepper. Complex and very well structured. Excellent value at $17.00. Perfect accompaniment with your next herb crusted pork tenderloin.
From the Côtes Catalanes in the Roussillon wine region, Domaine Lafage Cuvée Nicolas Vieilles Vignes (2015) is a robust Grenache Noir with black cherry liqueur, anise and smoke (from oak ageing) on the palate. - Community Wine Reviews
