Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Wow! So juicy and so bone-dry, I love this pale lemon-green Sancerre from the Central Loire. Flinty, lemon zesty with dried white florals on the nose, this 100% Sauvignon Blanc is raised from clay and limestone soils with Kimmeridgian marl, medium-bodied and medium-intensity with layers of lemon-lime zest, white grapefruit, stone fruit, spicy white pepper and flinty mineral flavours balanced with eye-winking acidity. Finishes creamy and long on the palate.

The history of this vineyard goes back to the 11th and 12th centuries when the monks began to cultivate vines. The Chateau de Sancerre stands in the heart of the Sancerre vineyards. In 1874, the castle was rebuilt and in 1919 it was purchased, along with some of the vineyards, by Louis Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle. Currently, the chateau is still owned by the Société des Produits Marnier-Lapostolle.
Brian Gray Hamilton rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Grassy, canned green beans, a nuance of green banana, fresh acidity, hint of pineapple, leaner, focused but a bit short in the finish. 6 months on lees in stainless steel. Pair with white fish.
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Bright rusty straw colour. Aromas of citrus, underipe pinapple, peaches, green apple sauce, and a hint of vinyl and of wet granite. Medium mouthfeel with a short citrus finish with juicy acidity. Score 88. (Sylvain Segard, Reviewed Dec. 14, 2016)
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

On the nose lemon-lime pineapple citrus. I wish I could spray the aroma around my kitchen. Crisp mineral citrus on the palate. Easy to drink very refreshing crowd pleaser because the crowd that tasted it agreed. It paired well with the mushroom risotto and roast piece of chicken supreme. If you like Sauvignon Blanc, I highly recommend this wine. For me it represents a benchmark wine.
Produced by the conglomerate Marnier-Lapostolle that also makes Grand Marnier. The company owns Casa Lapostolle in Chile and Château de Sancerre. The 2014 vintage of the French white wine Sancerre is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The wine has a light fruit, citrus and zesty finish. - Community Wine Reviews
